Well attended Church Service in Wigan

The annual Church Service for the Wigan and District Masonic Group was held at St. Matthews Church, Highfield before a very large congregation including the Deputy Mayoress of Wigan, Councillor Phyllis Cullen accompanied by her husband Terry, and her Deputy Consort.
 
The service held under the auspices of the Wigan Group led by Malcolm Taylor, the Group Chairman The service was conducted by David Kavanagh and the preacher was Canon Godfrey Hirst, Deputy Provincial Grand Chaplain (Craft) whose sermon was very well received.
 

The Mark Degree is always represented at this service and Peter Connolly, our Provincial Grand Master gave the first reading; Micah 6: 6-8. He was accompanied by Assistant Provincial Grand Master Ian Nairn and senior members of the Royal Order of Scotland.

The second reading; 1 Thessalonians 5: 12-24 was given by Malcolm Taylor and a solo ‘I’ll Walk with God’ was very ably sung by Harold Evans.
 
Following the service the congregation retired for light refreshments to the nearby Church Hall.
